Applying for Membership of Senate Assembly

Applications for membership of the Clinical Senate Assembly are welcome from clinicians of all professions, grades and backgrounds, and from health or social care staff working in non-clinical roles (for example commissioners, social workers).

Applications are also welcomed from individuals who wish to represent the patient and public view on Clinical Review Panels - referred to as our 'Experts by Experience'.  Such Members are able to offer the wider communities views when service changes are being considered and learn about how health and social care are managed across the region and all the pressures they face.  Indeed, the Clinical Senate has been described as "a welcoming organisation, multidisciplinary and team-oriented, which takes the patient view seriously and positively."

There is no formal commitment as an Assembly Member.  You will be invited to our events and may be invited to join a Clinical Review Panel to look at service change/development proposals. Please note that Clinical Review Panel and/or working group members are invited for their professional/personal expertise and knowledge and do not represent their employing organisation or professional body, ensuring that impartiality and objectivity remain core strengths of the Senate.

If you are approached, you would be provided with full information and be fully supported throughout the process.  You are under no obligation to accept such an invitation but if you do, then we would expect you to see the work through.   Most panel members have reported that it was an excellent networking, development and learning opportunity.

The Role Description for Assembly Members provides more detail about the requirements of Members.  For Experts by Experience who wish to become members of the Assembly, a separate Role Description can also be found below.

Please provide the following information which will enable us to keep in contact with you and also help us identify and invite people with the appropriate skills and experience to join a particular Clinical Review Panel.  Your information is for our records only and will not be shared with any other individuals, bodies or organisations.
