Chief Pharmacist

Chris Street BPharm(hons) MRPharmS has worked as a pharmacist for 27 years and was appointed Chief Pharmacist of the James Paget Hospital in 2017.

Chris started his career in community pharmacy working for Alliance Pharmacy as a pharmacy manager in Norfolk before being appointed ‘Health and Pharmacy Adviser’ for the company, a role which involved public relations, policy development and lobbying.

In 2006 Chris was appointed as pharmacist for Norwich Prison, later becoming Head of Prison Pharmacy for the Norfolk Prisons, which involved overseeing the pharmacy service for the 4 local prison establishments.

In 2011 Chris became Head of Medicines Management for Norfolk Community Health and Care, a role that involved supporting community hospitals, district nurses and other community based services to use medicines appropriately. As part of this role Chris became Trust Lead for Clinical Audit and Research, and was involved in the development of the mortality review process in the Trust.

Chris has a particular interest in the safe and effective use of medicines, as well as the application of evidence-based medicine, and in his current role has overseen many quality improvement projects and service developments to modernise the ways medicines are managed in the NHS within his organisation.
