Dr Jag Ahluwalia

Chief Clinical Officer, Eastern AHSN

Jag trained in Cambridge, London and Melbourne and was appointed as a consultant neonatologist at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) in 1996 and was in active practice, teaching and research until 2012.

Past roles have included being executive medical director at CUH for nearly 10 years, regional clinical lead for the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire neonatal network, a Senior officer for the British Association of Perinatal Medicine, chair of the Eastern Medical Directors’ Forum, chair of Monitor’s Medical Director Advisory Group and vice-chair of NHS Employers’ Consultant Contract Negotiation team and director of digital at CUH.

Jag is currently Chief Clinical Officer at the Eastern AHSN where he provides clinical governance oversight into network’s programmes of work and is a strong and passionate advocate for the potential of technology to deliver better care and more effective services.

He is an honorary fellow of the Judge Business School, from where he holds an executive MBA, is a non-executive director at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, a Trustee at Macmillan Cancer Support and a member of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough System Clinical Ethics Committee. He continues to be actively involved in the postgraduate training of future medical leaders and senior neonatal trainees, running a number of training programmes.
